Bridging Global Climate Models and Local Impacts

How do global climate patterns affect your local weather? We’re using machine learning to bridge the gap between massive climate models that simulate Earth’s entire atmosphere and the local conditions that impact daily life. Our deep learning systems analyze vast archives of climate data - from ancient tree rings to future climate projections - to reveal detailed patterns of temperature, rainfall, and extreme weather at scales relevant to human communities. By “downscaling” global climate projections to local levels, we’re helping communities better understand and prepare for climate change impacts in their specific region. This work transforms abstract climate science into actionable insights for adaptation planning, resource management, and policy decisions.
